Hello, Sunshine!

mango goji smoothieSummer is officially here! It’s time to (responsibly) soak up the sun and have as much fun as possible in the great outdoors. Not just because there is so much fun to be had, but because you’re probably deficient in Vitamin D and that’s a big problem! Almost as big of a problem as being deficient in fun..

The best way to get Vitamin D is free. Get outdoors and soak it up! 10-15 minutes per day, without sunscreen. Use common sense: if you are super fair and fluorescent (like me) limit your exposure and don’t burn. If you’ve got dark skin, you’ll need more sunlight to make vitamin D.

If you’ve never had your Vitamin D level tested, consider it high time you did. Studies show the majority of us are lacking in this essential vitamin, putting us at a greater risk of developing many kinds of cancer. A deficiency leads to a weakened immune system. Long before developing cancer, people at risk are likely those folks who always have the sniffles. Consider that a red flag.
